Boycott Wal-Mart on Black Friday

In america, most will be celebrating thursdays thanksgiving holiday, some will mark the day as indigenous peoples day, and some poor souls will be working. As many of you may have noticed, many stores have decided to be open. One more day of profit for corporate moguls that refuse to let you affect their profits by a planned black friday boycott of wal-mart.

Wal-Mart workers decided recently to have their first walkout in the history of the company on black friday. In the past, when the idea of a walkout was vocalized, wal-mart replied that they would close the striking store down for a month, and reopen with new workers brought from other locations, and employees involved were harassed by management into voluntarily leaving.   With complaints of low wages that make employees dependent upon food stamps etc. for survival, poor working conditions including harassment of employees by management, the only thing the employees can do is to walk out during what is arguably the busiest shopping day of the year, black friday.

When you consider your shopping plans on friday, think about the workers of wal-mart, and if you do anything on black friday, join them outside on their picket lines. Black friday can now come to mean something other than record profits for the already rich. Many of us can remember the feeling we had in 2008 when the economy was crashing, and jobs were being washed down the drain like blood in the water. Support fair labor in this country, and around the world, and make your statement by boycotting wal-mart on black friday, or even better forever.
